About GiveCentral

GiveCentral is a web-based donation platform designed to help nonprofit organizations raise more money. By consolidating all collection, fundraising and communication activities in one place, GiveCentral makes it easier for donors to give, for nonprofits to communicate and for administrators to manage their finances and donor records. Through its customizable, costeffective and versatile platform, GiveCentral enhances the fundraising experience for all those involved.

The Challenge

The initial setup of GiveCentral Live platform was hosted on a VPS Server. With the increasing customers, a scalable Compute and Database Cloud Platform was required for High availability, Performance at reduced costs.The Platform required a Compute instance for the MasterPlatform and multiple on-demand ‘Recorder Instances’ forRecording the live streaming.

The Solution

Separate EC2 instances were deployed for the MasterPlatform as well as the Recording Platform. EC2 Autoscaling and Load Balancing was leveraged for distributing the Load and Scaling the instances on-demand. Aurora Mysql with multi-AZ for high availability and last 30-days automatic backups was configured, allowing point-in-time restoration to any time within the last week. This provided the best balance between data availability for disaster recovery and cost effectiveness.

AWS Services Used: Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud(EC2), Elastic Load Balancing(ELB), Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Aurora.
